Welcome to The Free Book Buggie

The goal of The Free Book Buggie is simple: Give free books to children.

Mission:

To provide books to children and ignite a passion for reading that empowers each child to explore a world of opportunity.

Vision:

We envision a world where all children have their own home library and become lifelong learners through the joy of reading.

The Free Book Buggie is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit serving the Twin Cities, Minnesota.

Books for everyone

The Free Book Buggie believes every child deserves books that meet them where they are in reading level, personal characteristics, and interests.

Our books:
* Range from baby to high school chapter reading levels
* Come in a variety of languages
* Represent many diverse life circumstances
* The majority of our donated books are pre-loved and saved from landfills

How we help

  • Eliminate transportation barriers by traveling to communities where children live and learn
  • Eliminate cost barriers by providing books free of charge
  • Strategically partner with organizations reaching children in highest need of our resources

Americorps volunteer

“When The Free Book Buggie arrived, with their endless buckets of books, we were all buzzing with excitement! The books were well-organized, and labeled, by age making it easy for families to find the appropriate books for their child. Not only were they efficient in their set-up and clean up, but their level of excitement to give out free books matched that of the children and families that visited the museum that night. We are excited to continue this partnership with The Free Book Buggie and hope to see them at many of our future Family Events.”

What I love is that gently used books are continuing to ‘stay alive’ with new readers. I have students asking me every day, Is this a just right book? With my new bundle of books I can continue to foster that beginning love of reading.
